Uncover Passwords in forms through Mozilla Add-ons
Mozilla Add-ons are something that makes Firefox the best in the league of web browsers for me. Recently, i have tested some of the new add-ons of the firefox. I will be covering all of them in detail over here one by one. The first of these add-ons is uncovered password.
This add-on is handy for those who suffer from typo errors, you enters the password wrong again and again. The reasons are the asterisk and the typo’s that prevent you entering the right password.
The view of the login page changes from ******=> characters. The screen below shows the beauty of this add-on.
There are three add-ons at this time that I have founded out for uncovering the passwords. I will put them in descending order, as per the popularity.
- Unhide Passwords 1.2.4 by Norbert Wienholz
- Show my Password 1.7 by NettiCat
- Show Password 1.3 by Pratik Poddar
First, of these add-ons the Unhide password by Norbert Wienholz is the oldest and highly popular, with the stats following them.
Weekly downloads: 2,110
Total downloads: 227,228

Second, in the race is the Show my Password by NettiCat this plugin came just after the Unhide Password add-on. This add-on is getting popularity day by day.
Weekly downloads: 949
Total downloads: 32,044

Third, in the race is the Show Password by Pratik Poddar a student from IIT Bombay. He has been a Mozilla add-on user since December 2008. This add-on is a new add-on still in the experimental phase. I tested this add-on of his and founded it the same like the others.
Weekly downloads: 213
Total downloads: 3,277

How to Install these plugin’s:
- Select the add-on you want to install from the above three.
Note: Install any one of the add-on. - Click on Add to Firefox radio Button
- Click on Install (do take care of the warning message that they are showing about trusted authors)
- Restart the Firefox.
This feature gives you the flexibility of selecting the option to hide or unhide the password, just by a click. All you need is to click on the small icon at the bottom of the screen, highlighted in Red.
But personally I will recommend you not to use such a risky feature, especially if your working environment is opened to lot of strangers.
