Take snapshot of entire webpage in Firefox
Taking snapshots is always been a challenge especially when you have entire content not showing in the browser. Traditional method followed by 80% of the net users is to take a print screen of the live page and then paste it in paint and than edit is as per the requirement. Most of the time user’s are unsatisfied by the final image coming from the print screen.
Well for the problems we always have a solution; there are two approaches from two browsers. You could take the screen shots from IE and Mozilla Firefox.
First, taking the IE approach; a plugin IE Snap v1.2 is required to do so. Download this plugin and install. You will get an icon in your tool bar, click on IESnap button, IESnap will make the snapshot of entire web page (including invisible part), and image can be saved at your selected folder. The snapshot file is named according to the title of the current page by default.
Second, taking the Mozilla Firefox add-ons; here we have two choices. Abduction! 2.026 by Rowan Lewis and Snapper 2.0.1 by Joe Miller. We will be covering both these add-ons one by one, how they function and which has a advantage over the other.
1. Abduction! 2.026: It’s a very old add-on with very good features, last updated on July 18 2008. But it does not require update even after one year because of its bug free design. Let’s see how it functions:
- Install the add-on.
- When you want to take the screen shot Right click on the screen and select save page as image.
- A Window pop up’s for the page that you want to save as image. By default you can save the entire web page as image, but there are options of cropping the selected space from the page.
- Click on save, to save the image at your desired location.
2. Snapper 2.0.1: It’s a new add-on with the last update this month 2 June 2009. I personally like this add-on. Let’s see how this add-on functions:
- Install the add-on.
- At the bottom right corner you will start getting a fish in red color, which is for this add-on. When you click on this fish, the add-on becomes active.
- Now press the left click on the screen from where you want the screen shot, and select to the point you want the screen(this way you can select the entire also) and than release the button. During selection it also keeps on showing the dimensions of the snap, which makes its unique and best.

- A save as window pops up as soon as the button is released, asking you for the location to save the image.
- Save the image.
Recommendation: Later on click on the fish to deactivate the add-on, for trouble free browsing.
