Finding out the square of any number in seconds

square-root-in-secondsWe cannot imagine the world without calculations i.e, Mathematics. It is present in all phases of  our life. Irrespective of our background or discipline we use it. Now i am going to share with you a small short cut for fast calculation. It is highly useful for the students. Particularly those who are preparing themselves for competitive exam.

Finding out the  square of any number in just 20 seconds.

For example let us take 23 and we will find out the square for this number in the easiest and quickest way.

STEPS

A.  First reduce the number’s unit digit to zero. In this case it is 20. Now the unit digit is zero or we can simply subtract

3 from 23 it comes to 20.

B. Now we should add back that 3 to 23. The total comes as 26. So we should subtract and add only once.

C. In the third step you will multiply the 2 numbers i.e, 20 and 26. Multiplication of these numbers is 520.

D. Finally we should take the square of digit 3, which we have subtracted first and added again, that is 9.

and should add them 520+9= 529.

Let us take 35 as one more example.

35-5 = 30  and 35+5 = 40

30*40 = 1200

5*5 = 25

1200+25 = 1225.

Compose Mail messages with inline images

Here is a post for all the new comers of the net, who want to learn posting images in their outgoing mail messages. For this you can use email softwares like Endora, Incredimail, or the one i uses i.e. Outlook Express.

You can compose mail very easily in their user friendly environment, but composing mail is not the only thing that you need. You need to configure the email software(outlook etc) with your mail account (Gmail, yahoo, rediff, indiatimes etc.).

Now being in India the issue comes of POP3 access, their are two services who provide pop3 access in India, one is Gmail and other one is Rediff. Gmail also provides you with the IMAP configurations. Here in my next post i will covering the configuration of mail account.
So, i will be covering one software Outlook Express over here.

  1. First open Outlook Express.
  2. Click on Create mail, now a new message window will open, it would be similar like your online yahoo or Gmail account.

  3. Now click on insert image.
  4. And browse the path of the image on the HDD, you can also paste a hyper link in the browser path.

  5. Now insert as many images you like, and send the message.

XML-RPC enabling for configuration of Windows Live Writer

Setting up a windows live writer account on your PC is one is the most easiest task that you could perform easily, no rocket science involved in it. However their is one issue that uses to occur for very few, while setting up the writer.

What’s the issue involved? Few users uses to face problem with XML-RPC enabling, during their setup process. We will we covering it later while we will be following the steps of configuration.

Steps along with screen shots:

  1. First of all you need to have a setup of the windows live writer, that you could download from Live Writers site.
  2. Run the setup, and select windows live writer from the options available with the installation.
  3. Now open the installed windows live writer, it will automatically ask for configuration. Below are the screens attached for step by step understanding of this process.

  5. Select blogger, wordpress, typepad as your blog service.

  6. Enter the details of the blog account, with the username and password,

  7. Now this is the Step where we will get the problem of XML-RPC, the popup window comes up shown in step 8 appears.

  9. Open the writing settings from your Dashboard>>Settings>> Writing Settings

    If you are still unable to enable, the look at the post made by wpnotifier.
  10. Create a temporary theme on your local disc, so that you could get the look and feel of your blog while working offline.

Lxadmin’s default permalink configuration for wordpress

Today, i did an wordpress installation for one of my client on a lighttpd server. Every thing was fine in the installation, blog got installed successfully. It was a nice experience working on a new control panel (Lxadmin), but the thing that made me restless was the permalink issue that i got when i tried to customize the url’s to http://example.com/%postname%/. It was displaying the permalink with index.php attached to it like http://example.com/index.php/%postname%/.  If i removes index.php from the blogs permalink settings, it returns me with and error page 404 on the post pages. Moreover, i had a commitment that need to be completed in time. I did a lot of search about it and was presented with very useful and detailed solutions to my problem. There were some great explanation’s from  sudhakar and chrisjohnston to them.

But i was hunting for something more easier, that could be done more easily, and surprisingly i found the solution in the Lxadmin panel itself. The Lxadmin panel comes with a pre-configured permalink solution for wordpress and drupal.

Lxadmin comes with default permalink configuration for many apps. Please select the application and the directory where you have installed it, and lxadmin will add the corresponding rewrite rule into the lighty configuration. Please note that for some applications, permalinks are achieved via setting the 404 error handler, for instance wordpress.

Here is what you have to do for reaching the solution:

  1. Login in into your Lxadmin panel.
  2. Browse to script and select permalink.

  3. Select the domain, location and the application ( only wordpress and drupal are supported, currently).

    In the last go to your wordpress dashboard> settings> permalinks> and make the changes for customization, things will absolutely act finely.

Lxadmin panel’s such powerful and light weight functions can help the blogger’s to focus on their writing skills, rather than hunting and looking for solution to their solutions. It just functions like another wordpress plugin provided in the lxadmin panel.

What should i write and how?

Pen it downThis is a big problem that most of the new blogger’s uses to face when they decide to write on their blogs. The most common questions that come in their mind are:

What to write?

This is you have to decide depending on the theme and concept of your blog, the content that you want to deliver to your users. For this you need to be clear in your idea.

Where to search for new updates?

I am unable to find new and timely updates on the topics over which i am writing? For this you need to subscribe to the news feed of those articles and search the internet continuously for updates.

Everyone had written, nothing left for me?

Everyone had covered all the topics that are coming in my mind!! Now nothing is left for me to write? Their are ways a person views a situation and reviews it by his/her own knowledge. Lets take an example, say there is a topic abc that is covered by 50 users in their blog/websites. There is one thing that you have to take into account that all the 50 writers have their own view of expressing the thoughts.

While you are writing something on a particular topic that is already been covered by a lot of writers, you prime focus should be to exploit the area that is less/never being covered for that topic.

I hope that i had given a fair good enough idea on writing as a blogger.

Vedic Mathematics Multiplication Trick

Therefore it becomes impertinent to make fast calculations. I will tell you here about some of the shortcuts which are used in multiplication. These shortcuts will save your time and it will make students task easier in those exams where calculators are not allowed. This formula is also useful for those people who give aptitude test. There is a fundamental formula of multiplication which is given below:
(Ax2 + Bx +C) x (Px2 + Qx + R) = (Apx4 + (AQ+BP) x3 + (AR + BQ + CP) x2 + (BR + CQ) x + CR)
On putting x=10 in the given formula we can easily multiply 2 or 3 digits numbers
Let us take two 3 digit numbers 532 and 653 just to show you how multiplication is done with this method.
First of all multiply last digits of the numbers.
